When Do I Need A Radon Mitigation System?

Radon is a colorless, odorless, tasteless radioactive gas found in the ground. It is a by-product of uranium decay and is not harmful in small doses. However, when it reaches higher than 4 pCi/L (1 pCi/L=3.7 x 10-5 Ci), radon gas becomes dangerous to human health and can even lead to lung cancer. EPA suggests that all homes in the United States should be tested for radon levels. If it exceeds 4 picocuries per liter (pCi/L), then it is highly recommended that you have a mitigation system installed.

What Is A Radon Mitigation System?

A radon mitigation system installation helps reduce the amount of radon gas coming into your home or business by venting the harmful gas outside, where it will dissipate into the environment.
Radon mitigation systems reduce the amount of radon getting into your home to ensure the air you you breathe is safe. Still, before installing a mitigation system, it is essential to know how much radon exposure you are getting and what level of exposure is acceptable. Call our certified radon mitigation inspectors for more information and rest assured that our certified inspectors will recommend a mitigation system only if it’s absolutely necessary.

Radon mitigation systems have been used for many years and have proven effective at reducing radon levels and making homes safe from radiation exposure.

Do I Have Radon In My Home?

According to the EPA, Radon is found in all 50 US states, and about 1 out of 15 homes in the US has high levels. If you live in an area with high levels of radon, getting professional help and removing it from your home is essential.

My Home Is New; It won’t Have Radon In it.

New homes are no guarantee of not having radon. On contrary a new home may have high radon levels because of construction defects or low levels because of the type of construction materials used.

Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas found in the soil and water. It can seep into the home through cracks in the foundation or into the air during construction. The best way to stay safe is by having your home tested for radon.

Beyond Inspections Service Radon Mitigation Service

Our radon mitigation services provide a variety of solutions for reducing radon levels. They include installing and maintaining a radon reduction system, sealing or replacing building materials and ducts, and installing an air quality control device. Our sub-slab depressurization method for radon mitigation is designed to reduce the levels of radon in the home by up to 99%.

What is sub-slab depressurization?

Sub-slab depressurization is a method designed to reduce radon gas pressure built below the basement floor. A PVC pipe is inserted and sealed into the foundation wall, with a vent pipe attached.

This method is used in homes with basements that are not well ventilated and those that have high levels of radon gas. The pipe is connected to an outdoor vent and an inline fan which sucks the radon polluted air from indoors and releases it into the atmosphere. This technique can be used in homes with basements with excess radon gas levels, which can cause health problems for people living in them.

The pipe is vented to the roof of the house or building. The pipe is placed at least 24 inches above the highest unsealed window and at least 10 feet above the ground level. In colonial-style homes, the pipe can be extended through a series of closets, provided they are stacked on top of each other. The pipe leads to the attic from where it is vented out of the roof. Another option is to vent it out through the home’s garage, provided the room on top of the garage is an unfinished room.
